She was such a beautiful woman, so strong and yet so fragile. Such a life. Fabulous quote. c
What impressed me about Coco Chanel is she took woman out of corsets and set them free. She’s the little voice in the back of my head who answers my question – what do I look like in this outfit? Would Chanel approve? She’s kept me from making more than one fashion faux pas. Have a lovely Sunday Celi. V.
She did, and she was able to maintain that lovely long silhouette with her work> No frowsy or frumpy. Women were women.
Coco was such an incredible person………..how I connect her with any fashion, fragrance or the perfect pose ………… she comes to mind! Thank you for reminding all of us of her contribution!
It was discovering a vintage Chanel purse in a Thrift Shop that had me singing. I slung that baby over my shoulder and wore it with EVERYTHING. I also put my real pearls back in the safety deposit box and bought all the long pearl necklaces I could find. Fortunately that fit of madness did not last long. And my 50th birthday pearls (a gift from my Good Husband) came out of the vault and on to my neck. Coco Chanelhast such elan, such attitude, I should have invited her to my perfect dinner party. She would have loved Georgia O’Keefe. V
Wonderful quote and post, Virginia! xx

Years ago when I first became aware of Coco Chanel I yearned to look like her. Living in a small city in Saskatchewan in the fifties that wasn’t possible. The fashions simply did not exist. That is when I started sewing, I worked at it until I was able to sew couture creations, pouring over Vogue magazines and copying what I saw. It gave me great pleasure. Virginia
How did I miss your fabulous nod to Coco?! I love the quote and the photographs. So you found a Chanel bag in a thrift shop? What a story. What a treasure! T. (I’ve always loved Coco Chanel and Elsa “Schiap” Schiaparelli. Two interesting dinner party guests, seated at opposite ends of the table, of course! Oh, la la. Do I have a favorite? Yes, I do.)
Coco or Elsa, Coco AND Elsa – that would be a head-turning combination Theadora. Of course they would dress fabulously. Georgia O’Keefe would float around in something white with a gigantic silver and turquoise Navaho necklace. Virginia
