Our robins are back. Not that they really ever left us. We did have the occasional visits at the windows. You can just see Mrs.Pecky sitting on a clutch of eggs. Basin Robin stands guard.
A few days ago great panic as they attempted to build a nest and lay two eggs all in one day. The nest wasn’t finished on time. Mrs. Pecky laid the eggs on the top of this wicker cage.
It was not located in a quiet, safe place for a maternity ward. These robins trusted us so much we were able to move cage, the nest and tuck the eggs in safely. Two days later Mrs. Robin settled into the relocated nest, laid more eggs, and now sits patiently waiting the blessed event. She has about a week to ten days wait. The birds cage is perfect for two eager parents. Baskin Robin perches beside her but doesn’t crowd her space. Our comings and goings on the patio are totally ignored. No wild flapping of wings. Baskin still visits at the window. Pecking to get out attention. In his beak a token of appreciation… as usual , wiggly worms.
