THE INTOXICATING PEONY

Tightly foiled buds teasing  with promises of  unspeakable beauty.

This moment, this breathless moment.

The flower opens.

Seducing me with shimmering colour.

Intoxicating flaunting peonies.

Outrageous, exotic plumage.

Flouncing in your ball gown of fragile petals.

Petals fluttering in waltz time

Dancing, swaying, audaciously gorgeous.

You beauty – you.

    • Peonies are flowers from my childhood. I always thought they were something out of a fairy tale. Thank you for sharing my appreciation for them. Virginia
