ABOUT. . . TALKS ABOUT DAY DREAMS, THE JOYOUS PARADE OF LIFE AND THE SIMPLEST PLEASURES OF A LIFE WELL LIVED

My career as a writer for radio and television began in the late 50’s.    Exciting times in early Television    with Award winning commercials, documentaries and hosting a live television show.     In the 1980’s  I followed my heart into the kitchen and for many years my husband and I  were chef/owners of  several restaurants.   Our French restaurant, ROXY’S BISTRO,  proudly graced the list of 100 BEST RESTAURANTS IN CANADA.

Now I live in  a book filled house in the country.      I look out to lush, green fields,  majestic mountains and ocean going ships.  Eagles soar over head  and frog songs fill the quiet nights.

I’ve returned to the magic world of writing.     I write about:

Pepper, our mature Siberian cat and how she found happiness in a new home in I TOOK OFF MY BRAVE.

My fantasy little house in Paris – une petite maison.  A magical place where I lovingly chop, saute and simmer cassoulet  for Theadora and The Tin Man TO CELEBRATE THE LOVE OF PARIS.

OSWALD GENTLEMAN RABBIT,  saving the world one tree at a time while serving his guests sweet desserts from Paris.

I write about the office chair who wanted to become the Chelsea Flower Show,  and Muriel,  dressmakers mannequin who donned feathers and silk to wear to a Christmas party.

My favourite tale   –THE BICYCLE GHOSTS  is a true story of love in the time of world war two.  It has a happy ending.

I take you into my alto ego’s kitchen.  The kitchen of MRS.BUTTERFINGERS.    Seventy years of cooking spill onto the pages of this food blog.  Food that is cooked from the heart and nourishes the soul.   MRS. BUTTERFINGERS promises to cook with you every step of way.

These are the bits and bobs of the joyous parade that fill my days.  This is the  poetry of my heart.  Days sometimes bitter sweet but always embraced for the simplest pleasures.  Always BEL’OCCHIO – the beautiful eye.
